Royal Navy Career Opportunities Banned and Rejected by University Student Union?

I thought i would take this opportunity to update you all on a matter at the University. The Royal Navy recently approached the Uni of Ulster Students Union
with a simple request to advertise Career opportunities via placing a few "Royal Navy" posters around the Union for interested students.

This idea was binned upon arrival, and the request was formally "Rejected" by the executive of your students Union claiming that
"it is contrary to the decision made last year to ban military organisations advertising within the Union"

(For the record this Union is based within a University that proudly holds a respected careers fair each year, where many employers and opportunities are present.)

Now, excuse my forthright approach here, but this is a Students Union which has various posters for political parties and careers visible within it, including for example Sinn Fein posters, (despite the clear fact that Sinn Fein has proudly labelled itself the political voice of the "Militant" provisional IRA for much of its' history.)

This students Union claims to represent all of its' students, yet did not seek to democratically ask the students their opinion on this matter in their own Union. So, we will do it for them.

DO YOU AS A STUDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY AGREE THAT ROYAL NAVY CAREERS SHOULD BE FORMALLY REJECTED and BANNED FROM YOUR STUDENTS UNION?

Jim Allister Delivering a Sinn Fein Agenda

Jim Allister, who who labels himself as "The defender" of Traditional Unionist values is doing nothing of the sort. Rather than defending Unionism and strengthening it, his bitter scare-mongering tirades are in fact threatening to split and damage Unionism.

DUP Assembly Member Edwin Poots MLA said the following:

“The only Unionist seeking to deliver a Sinn Fein agenda is Jim Splitter Allister who openly confesses his desire to split Unionism and thereby make Sinn Fein the largest party in Stormont. Jim Splitter Allister has a proven track record of being wrong on policing and justice issues. TUV claimed Sinn Fein was going to hold the ministry, they warned it was a step closer to a United Ireland and told us that Martin McGuinness was going to be appointing judges. On every single one of those claims TUV prophecies of impending doom have been shown to be false. No matter in what flowery language Jim Splitter Allister chooses to present his case, the reality is that it is bogus.”

Peter is our leader!

The University of Ulster DUP wishes to express our full support for Peter Robinson, party leader during this difficult time for him and his family. We believe he has conducted himself with the highest honour and integrity throughout the entire course of events.

We would also like to express our utter disdain for the attacks on him from our political opponent's and some sections of the media. We see these attacks as nothing but a scurrilous attempt to score cheap political points by those who just want to sell papers or are more concerned about bringing down someone for their own selfish political advantage than the political future of Northern Ireland, they will not succeed!

DUP welcome UDA decommissioning

Rt. Hon. Jeffrey Donaldson MP said:

“The DUP welcomes the news that the UDA has decommissioned its illegally held weaponry. This will be welcomed throughout our country. The Party has been working for a considerable time to remove all illegal weapons from the streets of Northern Ireland and to deliver universal support for policing and the rule of law.

People will now be looking for clear evidence of a complete and total commitment to the peaceful and democratic path by all those previously involved with paramilitary groups.

The Troubles had a negative and damaging impact upon the communities in which paramilitaries operated down through the years. Working-class loyalist people will be pleased to see paramilitary organisations fading out of existence and a normal peaceful situation coming to the fore.

We need to work with community leaders in these areas to bring investment in local infrastructure and to remove the obstacles to creating a more prosperous economic environment with job creation and training opportunities.

The DUP will continue to work for the elimination of all paramilitary structures from our society.”
